Which Doctor Should You See
for HPV and Warts?
What Is HPV?
HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is a common infection that causes warts on the skin and mucosal surfaces. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 630 million people worldwide are infected with HPV, and millions of new cases are reported every year. In the United States, the CDC states that there are about 14 million new HPV cases each year. In Türkiye, too, tens of thousands of new HPV cases are seen every year.
HPV infection is known for its high-risk types, which can lead to cervical cancer in women, and its low-risk types, which cause genital warts in men. Genital warts are one of the most common signs of HPV.
